Yoshiki Hidaka

Biographical Highlights
Yoshiki Hidaka is a visiting senior fellow of Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C. He is conducting an on-going project on U.S. – Japan cooperation.

Hidaka is executive producer for Yoshiki Hidaka, The Washington Report, an 80-minute documentary news program which is broadcast monthly for TV-Tokyo Network in Japan. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Taubman Center for State and Government of the John F. Kennedy School at Harvard University.

Hidaka’s career in broadcast journalism has spanned more than thirty years. As a correspondent for Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), he spent more than 20 years in the United States and has interviewed many leading figures in government and business, including presidents, cabinet secretaries, and members of Congress.

Hidaka was named managing director of NHK in 1991. In 1989, he became director general of NHK Network and Enterprises, U.S.A., where he was responsible for all NHK news-gathering and programming activities in the Americas. Before that, he held a number of important posts in NHK: in 1987 he was assigned as chief correspondent for the News Department at NHK, and assigned as a correspondent in NHK’s New York bureau, where he anchored NHK’s daily, live news broadcasts to Japan. He has also been an assistant editor of the Foreign News Department at NHK, Tokyo; a correspondent in NHK’s Washington bureau; and a war correspondent in Vietnam.

In 1960, Hidaka graduated concurrently from the University of Tokyo and the University of Tokyo School of Journalism.
